With the outbreak of AIDS in the early s, many LGBT groups and individuals organized campaigns to promote efforts in AIDS education, prevention, research, patient support, and community outreach, as well as to demand government support for these programs. It is worth noting that for LGBT people, stigma can and does take place at all of these levels. There were responses from both librarian and nonlibrarian health care professionals and students, 74 of which were made by GLBT persons.
